At Last A Bit Of Excitement From The Rainbow Nation.
At long last the tormented football fans of the world have something to shout about. As day 8 dawns here at World Cup Spread Betting we look back on the action from yesterday and hope that it continues today.
Today’s early bird match for spread free betting at SportsSpread is the clash of Germany v Serbia. All bets spread free for 1 hour before kick off. If you don’t have an account, get one now to avail of the £/€100 sign up offer. The Serbians should supply a sterner test than the Aussies did, hopefully. Its then back to group C for Slovenia v USA with the American’s needing a good result. The final game of the day is England v Algeria, a game that England should win comfortably on paper but as we saw with Spain anything can happen. The English really need a big performance tonight and the return of Gareth Barry to the midfield would leave the possibility of releasing Gerrard to play just behind Rooney similar to the role he is so effective in with Torres at Liverpool. Joe Cole should also be in the team in my view but I don’t think Fabio will agree. He also has to decide who to pair with John Terry at the back. If it was me I think I would go with Dawson. He’s inexperienced but he is the form player coming into the tournament. Jamie Carragher is a good player but he’s not up to the job. If he comes up against a pacey player he will be exposed as he was in the game against USA and then you have the possibility of penalties and free kicks in dangerous areas of the pitch. England need to produce a much better performance than they did against the USA, to start building some sort of momentum and give the fans hope that they can progress well into the latter stages.
Argentina put on a superb show in beating the South Koreans 4-1 giving us glimpses of the footballing magic that their players are capable of. As I said before the tournament started you can not rule Argentina out they have too many world class players. Greece came from a goal down to beat Nigeria 2-1 this after Kaita was shown a straight red for an unexplainable challenge that may have cost his team the chance they had of making it to the last 16. There not out yet but they will need a good win against the Koreans assuming the free scoring Argentines beat Greece in there final match. The final game of the day saw France take on Mexico in a match that was watched with great delight here in Ireland. Les Bleues were beaten 2-0 by the Mexicans and no one can say they didn’t deserve it and I say that with my neutral head on. The French seem to be in total disarray with Domenech seeming to be the major factor in their decline. Why they didn’t just put Laurent Blanc in before the world cup I don’t know. He couldn’t have done any worse than Domenech. They have some world class players but there was nothing in midfield, nothing up front and a certain Mr Henry was left on the bench once again. He may not be in the best form of his career but a player of his calibre can always provide a bit of magic when needed.
And finally it seems that England’s problems with the Jabulani could have been eased somewhat if a consignment of the controversial footballs that were sent to the FA for the team to train with hadn’t gone missing. I’m sure it wouldn’t have been beyond the FA to get a replacement set when they noticed. Just a little bit shoddy guys.
