Its day 15 at World Cup Spread Betting and just about at the half way mark. The Italians, like France go home bottom of their group finishing below New Zealand which hasn’t even got a full time football league. The possibility of the Spanish also exiting today if results go against them and there are some great opportunities for spread betters to make a few quid.
The Dutch are safely through with their third win and are joined by Japan who put in a great performance in beating Denmark 3-1 scoring from two excellently executed free kicks. Cameroon and Denmark taking the plane home. In the other group decided yesterday sees Paraguay and Slovakia go through with Italy and New Zealand going home as mentioned before. If you had said some of the teams that are gone and some of the teams that could go out before the tournament started, I’d safely say you would have been dragged away and locked up.
Today’s action sees mighty Brazil coming up against the free scoring Portuguese and the other match in that group is North Korea v Ivory Coast. Both of these games are under way at 3.00pm and the Ivory Coast can still make it through although they have to win and Portugal would have to lose and they would have to make up 9 goals in the goal difference column. It would be a big ask but given the way things are going at the moment it might be worth a punt.
The final group to be settled this evening at 7.00pm is group H where the pre tournament favourites Spain could say adios if things don’t go they’re way. If Chile can win or draw against Spain which isn’t outside the realms of possibility, then the door would be open for the Swiss to sneak through if they beat North Korea. Indeed if Spain got beaten a draw would do the Swiss. Even if Spain wins I think if the Swiss won by one more goal than the Spanish they would go through.
